The SEMO Iris Society will present its Annual Iris Show in the JCPenney court at West Park Mall from May 1-3, 2026.
Entries will be accepted from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 1, and 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2. Judging will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2.
Public viewing will take place from 12-8 p.m. on Saturday, May2, and 12-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 2.
Anyone may enter named varieties of irises.

The Department of Art + Design will present ARTrageous on Friday, May 1, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Art Annex Buildings, 340 South Frederick Street in Cape Girardeau.

A Peace Walk will be held at The Labyrinth at Abbey Road, 2411 Abbey Road in Cape Girardeau, on Saturday, May 2, at 1:00 pm. All are welcome at this free event to walk the labyrinth or sit in contemplative silence with a finger labyrinth in our pergola.

Join the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) as we take you on a tour of the historic cemetery established in 1808, which is the site of more than 6,500 graves.
Enjoy a presentation by Cape County Archive Director, Marybeth Niederkorn, on Uriah Brock, a famous Revolutionary War soldier. She will also share where other historic figures are buried and their historic contributions as we celebrate our nation's 250th anniversary.
Refreshments and reception to follow, sponsored by the Center for Regional History.
Each May, in honor of Historic Preservation Month, the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) hosts a tour of historic properties in the city and/or a presentation on historic preservation.

Riverside Regional Library in Perryville will host “Birding in the Park” on May 9.
All are welcome to join bird watchers on a stroll through City Park to spot birds for World Migratory Bird Day. Findings from the stroll will be used to help researchers with bird conservation. The event is free for all ages, weather permitting.
“Birding in the Park” will take place on Saturday, May 9, from 9-10 a.m. at the Riverside Regional Library Perryville Branch.

Dances are taught and prompted to old-time music, sometimes live. Come early for extra instuction. Come with or without a partner. Children and families are welcome. Age 8 and up can learn the dance easily. $5 contribution is requested for hall rental and musicians. Look on YouTube for Contra Dance, Cape Girardeau, MO to see a sampling of our dances.

On the 4th Friday of every month from April through October, the art galleries and artists' studios in downtown Ste Genevieve open their doors to the public from 6 to 9 pm.
Come stroll from gallery to studio through quaint historic downtown Ste Gen. You will also find food, shopping and live music.
This is a family friendly and free event.
