The solar panel construction started in Nov. 2021 after SEMO joined Ameren’s Neighborhood Solar Program. Chairman and President of Ameren Missouri Mark Birk said the parking lot’s solar canopies are capable of providing “equivalent to what 130 homes use.”

The use of technology integration in classrooms is growing throughout the world. At Southeast, many instructors use Apple products such as Macbooks or iPads in their curriculum. AR480 Introduction to Virtual Reality (VR) at SEMO is teaching students to create their own VR environments. VR instructor Jeremy Griffin picked up the course when the university sent out an email for professors who were interested in teaching AR480.

SEMO IT Security Officer Discusses Protecting Technology From Hacking, Malware Amidst Current EventsAs tragedies escalate in Europe, many have voiced concerns about a rise in cybersecurity attacks. On Feb. 25, 2022, Information Technology sent an email to the Southeast community regarding cybersecurity vigilance. According to the email, the FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) are aware of these issues and are urging the public to be cautious of ransomware, keylogging, and device-takeover attacks.

“The 1st to Ever Do It” Jeopardy event in Dempster Hall on Wed. Feb. 9th, hosted by Southeast Missouri State University's Black Student Union, was the group's first of many planned events for the month of February.
