This month’s book is a summer reading selection that celebrates the nation’s 250th birthday and people who impacted our country’s history. Join us for a discussion of “The Small and the Mighty” by Sharon McMahon. The group meets at the Main Branch in Jackson. For ages 18+. Book are available for check out at the Main Branch.
Mercy Hospital Southeast will present “Tropical Taste Escape” at its next Healthy Cooking Class on July 20.
Treat your tastebuds to the tropics. The class will explore the bright, sunny flavors of tropical fruits and ingredients like mango, pineapple, coconut, and more, as well as how these foods deliver nourishing benefits for energy, hydration, and overall wellness.
“Tropical Taste Escape” will take place Monday, July 20, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in the demonstration kitchen at Mercy Healthpoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau. There is a small fee and registration is required.

Build reading readiness and kindergarten readiness skills with our Preschool Storytime program! This fun and educational program features longer books that are accompanied by a variety of activities, including flannel boards, dramatics, and songs.
(Ages 3-5)
This program is designed for children and accompanying adults. Please plan to attend and be engaged with your child for this program. Drop-offs will not be permitted.

Love chess or want to sharpen your skills? Join our Chess Club, open to all adults interested in the game—whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player. The Cape Girardeau Municipal Band performs each Wednesday evening in June and July. Guest artists perform at 7 PM. The Muny Band performs at 7:30 PM.
The free concerts take place each Wednesday evening at the Dan Cotner Amphitheater in Capaha Park. Be sure to bring your blankets or lawn chairs.

Join fellow American Mahjong enthusiasts for a fun and friendly game session! This event is for players who already know the rules and want to enjoy some lively rounds together. If you have your own mahjong set, please bring it along—our library has only two sets available. Feel free to bring your favorite snack or drink to enjoy while you play. This month our Banned Book Club will discuss the classic novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee.
For ages 12+ at the Perryville Branch.
On the 4th Friday of every month from April through October, the art galleries and artists' studios in downtown Ste Genevieve open their doors to the public from 6 to 9 pm.
Come stroll from gallery to studio through quaint historic downtown Ste Gen. You will also find food, shopping and live music.
This is a family friendly and free event.
