The Crisp Museum will host “Then & Now: Works by SEMO Alumni & Faculty” from September 4 through October 17.

This exhibition is a celebration of learning, collaboration, and the evolving relationship between teacher and artist. Professors engage with viewers and students alike, discussing techniques and inspiration, while students gain confidence seeing their creations displayed alongside those who have guided them.

**An opening reception will take place on Friday, September 4, from 4-8 p.m.

“Then & Now” will run from Friday, September 4, through Saturday, October 17, at the Crisp Museum on Southeast’s River Campus.

The Crisp Museum on SEMO's River Campus will hold its annual Halloween Scavenger Hunt during the month of October. Stop by the museum to look for "Scooby-Doo" items throughout the exhibits. Enter with your contact information and the number of "Scooby-Doo" items you spotted. The winner will receive all the candy inside the Crisp Cauldron. A winner will be drawn on October 31 at 4 p.m. The winner does not need to be present to win.

Join us for Toddler Time—an interactive storytime designed to spark your child’s love of books and language! Through lively stories, catchy songs, and playful activities, toddlers will explore the joy of reading while building essential early literacy skills. Parents and caregivers will also discover creative ways to support their child’s learning journey at home. Come share the fun and watch your little one’s imagination grow! (ages 1-2)

Join fellow American Mahjong enthusiasts for a fun and friendly game session! This event is for players who already know the rules and want to enjoy some lively rounds together. If you have your own mahjong set, please bring it along—our library has only two sets available. Feel free to bring your favorite snack or drink to enjoy while you play. No registration needed—just drop in and join the fun! (ages 18+)

By registering for this program, you are committing to 8 programs that will meet every Thursday from 4:00–5:00 pm. (ages 9-11)

Don't miss this free screening of the documentary film "Alice's Ordinary People," followed by a Q&A session with the director, Craig Dudnick.

The film is about Alice Tregay, a woman who fought for African American civil rights in her community. It highlights ordinary people effecting extraordinary change for human rights. Five decades of fearless activism and the continuing relevance of Dr. Martin Luther King to the ongoing fight for justice. (ages 18+)

Get ready to groove! The SEMO Jazz Bands are turning back the clock to the funky, soulful sound of the 1970s. An electrifying night of classic jazz fusion, R&B, and old-school cool.

Want to entertain your friends and family? Join the Youth Beginner Recorder Ensemble! Students will learn to read music and the basic techniques required to play the recorder. Recorders will be provided. (ages 9-11)

Students who sign up for this are committing to 4-week lessons, every Friday at 3:30 pm, ending with a concert for family and friends on Friday, October 30.
