The Crisp Museum hosts Art for Adults each Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon.
Beginners learn to mix colors, arrange a palette, use and clean brushes correctly in a small group setting. Attendees may use the museum’s supplies or bring their own acrylics, oils, soft pastels, or watercolors. Mini lessons are taught by Ellen Flentge.
Art for Adults takes place Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Wednesdays from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Crisp Museum on Southeast’s River Campus. There is a small fee to attend.

The Department of Music at Southeast will present “A Festive Celebration” on November 25.
The concert will feature the University Choir, Chamber Choir, and Choral Union accompanied by brass, piano, and a string quartet. Selections will include familiar holiday favorites, as well as other masterpieces from the choral canon.
The performance will take place Tuesday, November 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Bedell Performance Hall on Southeast’s River Campus.

Skiptracer (This Link is Dead), an exhibition in expanded printmaking by Jackson Taylor, Annie Klein, and Grant M. Brownlow, is on display now at Catapult Creative House.
Taylor, Klein, and Brownlow’s printmaking addresses a society experiencing systemic decline with the “dead link” being lost information, fragmented memories, and decaying environments and “skip tracing” the necessary effort to retrieve these connections.
The exhibit will be on display at Catapult Creative House through November 24. A closing reception will take place on November 24, from 5-7 p.m., with an artist talk at 5 p.m. Catapult is free and open to the public, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
SEMO’s Biennial Faculty Exhibition is on display November 7-24.
The exhibition features a broad sampling of fine art from art and design faculty and encompasses a wide range of studio practices including ceramic, painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and digital technology. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Old Town Cape will kick off the holiday season with its 7th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on November 28.
This family-friendly event will feature live music and caroling, illuminated aerial acrobatic performances, warm beverages and marshmallow roasting, and local food vendors. The evening will conclude with Santa and Mrs. Claus lighting the 30-foot Christmas tree.
The annual Tree Lighting will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 28, at Fountain and Broadway Streets in Downtown Cape.

The Jackson Area Historic Sites Christmas Tour, a new, unique and fun tour, will take place on Sunday, Nov. 30, from 2-5 p.m.
Enjoy historic private homes, house museums, a special garden, a festive gathering at the History Center, interactive activities at each stop, special gifts, a sneak peek inside a historic home that has that has not been viewed in decades. live music, and so much more.
Pick up a ticket at the History Center, 102 S. High St, Jackson. $25 each, and children are free with an adult ticket. There will be special activities for children.
Proceeds benefit the St. Paul Lutheran School Angel Fund and the Cape Girardeau County Historical Society.

The Department of Music at Southeast will present Soaring Strings on December 2.
The concert will feature the Southeast Missouri Symphony strings performing Elgar’s Serenade for Strings, Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and Mozart’s Symphony No. 40. SEMO alum Jordan Redd and SEMO Professor of Horn Nicholas Kenney will perform Haydn’s Concerto for Two Horns, as well.
The performance will take place Tuesday, December 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Bedell Performance Hall on Southeast’s River Campus.
