The Southeast Department of Music will present an Opera Double Feature of tragedy and comedy on January 16 and 18.
The heart-rending love story of Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, presented in the original English, will be paired with an abridged operatic farce of Handel’s Alcina, with updated dialogue in English and arias sung in Italian.
Performances will take place on Friday, January 16, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 18, at 3:00 p.m. in the Bedell Performance Hall on Southeast’s River Campus.

Mercy Hospital Southeast will present “One Pot Wonders” at its next Healthy Cooking Class on January 19.
Tired of spending more time cleaning up than cooking? Nutritional Services Coordinator Laura Vollink will share how to create flavorful meals with techniques to simplify your cooking while maximizing taste—all in a single dish.
“One Pot Wonders” will take place on Monday, January 19, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in the demonstration kitchen at Mercy Healthpoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau. There is a small fee and registration is required.

Build reading readiness and kindergarten readiness skills with our Preschool Storytime program! This fun and educational program features longer books that are accompanied by a variety of activities, including flannel boards, dramatics, and songs.

The East Ozarks Audubon Society (EOAS) will celebrate their milestone of 45 years of projects and activities for conservation of birds and other wildlife.
Join them at the Farmington Public Library for an evening of memories and a look to the future. The program will end with a game of bird identification and a lesson session. A birthday cake and other refreshments begin at 6:30 p.m. The program starts at 7 p.m.
