Are you a fan of anime and manga? Want to get into anime but don’t know where to start? Come join our anime club and learn about Japanese culture while enjoying all your favorite shows! (ages 12-18)

The Crisp Museum will host the 48th Annual “Exhibiting Excellence” Juried High School Exhibition through March 8.

The exhibition highlights the talent of regional students in grades 11 and 12 residing in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois and features sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media, photography, drawing, painting, digital art, fibers, and more.

“Exhibiting Excellence” will run through Sunday, March 8, at the Crisp Museum on Southeast’s River Campus.

Museum Hours:
Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Saturday 1-4 p.m.
First Fridays of the Month 9 a.m.-8 p.m.

This year, Friends Foundation members get a night of exclusive discounted pricing: 50¢ paperbacks and $1 hardcovers on Thursday. Friday and Saturday prices will be $1 paperbacks and $2 hardcovers. Any leftover materials on Sunday will be half-priced. Prices this good should probably come with a warning. Cash, checks, and cards accepted.

The Crisp Museum will host Ukrainian Pysanka Egg Decoration workshops on March 6 and 7.

The name Pysanky comes from the verb to write. A stylus, called a kistka, is used to write with wax on the eggshell. The kistka has a handle and a small funnel which holds melted wax. During these workshops, Pysanky surface design and handling techniques will be demonstrated. Participants will create their own Pysanky egg with rich dyes and symbolic designs using a wax resist process. 

The workshops, which are open to ages nine and older, are planned from 1-4 p.m. both days. No experience is required, and supplies will be provided.

Cost for this workshop is $5, and pre-registration with a fee is required by March 4 or in-person at the Museum.

Join youth-certified yoga instructor, Maggie Salem, for a half hour of toddler mindful movement. Yoga mats will be provided.

Consider joining one of our Riverside Regional library branch book clubs! This month we’ll be reading the historical fiction book “Resistance Women” by Jennifer Chiaverini.

Perryville Book Club meets the second Monday of the month. For ages 18+ at the Perryville Branch.

Each month, join a party of adventurers and work together to complete your mission. No experience is required and pre-made characters will be provided.
