The Crisp Museum will host “Then & Now: Works by SEMO Alumni & Faculty” from September 4 through October 17.

This exhibition is a celebration of learning, collaboration, and the evolving relationship between teacher and artist. Professors engage with viewers and students alike, discussing techniques and inspiration, while students gain confidence seeing their creations displayed alongside those who have guided them.

**An opening reception will take place on Friday, September 4, from 4-8 p.m.

“Then & Now” will run from Friday, September 4, through Saturday, October 17, at the Crisp Museum on Southeast’s River Campus.

Join us for Toddler Time—an interactive storytime designed to spark your child’s love of books and language! Through lively stories, catchy songs, and playful activities, toddlers will explore the joy of reading while building essential early literacy skills. Parents and caregivers will also discover creative ways to support their child’s learning journey at home. Come share the fun and watch your little one’s imagination grow! (ages 1-2)

Join fellow American Mahjong enthusiasts for a fun and friendly game session! This event is for players who already know the rules and want to enjoy some lively rounds together. If you have your own mahjong set, please bring it along—our library has only two sets available. Feel free to bring your favorite snack or drink to enjoy while you play. No registration needed—just drop in and join the fun! (ages 18+)

Is your kid interested in learning Spanish, the world's fourth most-spoken language? Sign them up for our 8-week introduction to Spanish with guest lecturer, Carla Vaca Diez! By registering for this program, you are committing to 8 programs that will meet every Thursday from 4:00–5:00 pm. (ages 9-11)

Southeast Missouri State University will host its annual Patriot Day ceremony this Friday, September 11, from 7:35-8:30 a.m. in front of Academic Hall, bringing together students, faculty, staff and the community to honor first responders, military service members, veterans and the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

The public is invited to attend this free event, which will feature participation from Cape Girardeau County first responders, SEMO students, faculty and staff. This year's program will also include a performance of the national anthem by SEMO's trumpet majors, highlighting student involvement in honoring this national day of remembrance.

Join this club and explore the world of Anime with other fans like you! Learn about its influence on pop culture through themed crafts and more. For ages 10+ at Main Branch, Jackson.

Dr. Deborah Caldwell and guest artist Dr. Anderson Romero will present an evening of trumpet to delight audiences.

The recital will feature Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Trumpets along with a new work called “Under Western Skies” by Kevin McKee for two trumpets and piano. Solo pieces will feature a couple American composers (including one written in memorial of September 11: Eric Ewazen’s “Hymn for the Lost and the Living”). Professor of piano Matt Yount will accompany.

The Cape Riverfront Market takes place each Saturday morning through October from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 35 S. Spanish Street in Downtown Cape Girardeau.

Patrons of the farmers’ market can find a wide variety of vendors selling hot breakfast and lunch foods, farm-fresh produce, meats and cheeses, baked goods, jams, honey, flowers and plants, arts and crafts, and natural wellness products, all of which are locally grown, homemade, and handmade. Each week will feature live music, as well.
