Experience an afternoon of chamber music featuring violinists Ching-Yi Lin and Boris Abramov, violists Andrew Braddock and Ela Tokarska, and cellist Patrick Hopkins. The concert features Johannes Brahms’ String Quintet in G Major, Op. 111, one of the composer’s most expansive and radiant chamber works, celebrated for its soaring melodies, lush textures, and symphonic scope.

Build reading readiness and kindergarten readiness skills with our Preschool Storytime program! This fun and educational program features longer books that are accompanied by a variety of activities, including flannel boards, dramatics, and songs.

Join us for BabyBook, a lively lapsit storytime designed to spark your baby’s love for reading! Through joyful stories, playful music and movement, and gentle rhymes, your little one will build early literacy skills and connect with others in a warm, nurturing environment. Perfect for babies and their caregivers—come share cuddles, giggles, and the magic of books together! (ages 0-1)

The Southeast Missouri State University choir and choral union join the orchestra for Handel's Messiah, a perfect way to begin the holiday season. Also featured is award-winning oboist Thomas Gallant performing Richard Strauss' Oboe Concerto and Debussy's Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun.

Two hours of free play will give kids the opportunity to get creative and build anything they choose with LOTS of LEGO. Work on your own creations or build as a team. The library will provide the LEGOs, you provide the imagination! (ages 6-11)

Contra Dance to live music. No experience or partner is needed. All dances are taught and walked through. This dance is FREE to the public.

Step into the holiday season with flair at this beloved annual collaboration between the Southeast Jazz Studio and our gifted Theatre and Dance performers.

Dances are taught and prompted to old-time music, sometimes live. Come early for extra instuction. Come with or without a partner. Children and families are welcome. Age 8 and up can learn the dance easily. $5 contribution is requested for hall rental and musicians. Look on YouTube for Contra Dance, Cape Girardeau, MO to see a sampling of our dances.
