Build reading readiness and kindergarten readiness skills with our Preschool Storytime program! This fun and educational program features longer books that are accompanied by a variety of activities, including flannel boards, dramatics, and songs.

(Ages 3-5)

This program is designed for children and accompanying adults. Please plan to attend and be engaged with your child for this program. Drop-offs will not be permitted.

We are reading “Loving, Ohio” by Matthew Erman & Sam Beck. This coming-of-age horror graphic novel explores teenage angst and how corrupt institutions can infiltrate everything.

For ages 16+ at the Perryville Branch.

Join us for BabyBook, a lively lapsit storytime designed to spark your baby’s love for reading! Through joyful stories, playful music and movement, and gentle rhymes, your little one will build early literacy skills and connect with others in a warm, nurturing environment. Perfect for babies and their caregivers—come share cuddles, giggles, and the magic of books together! (ages 0-1)

Please bring your device (cell phone, tablet, e-reader, etc.) with you to your appointment. (ages 18+)

Take a short pause in your day with gentle chair yoga, breathwork, and meditation. The sessions are open to adults of all skill levels, whether you are simply curious or have experience. We will provide a calm space to restore focus and connect with a supportive community. No equipment or preparation is needed.

Registration for the event is required to ensure we have enough space for everyone. (ages 18+)

Join us each month for Bite-Sized Chefs, where kids can discover fun and creative cooking techniques that are simple and visually appealing! Young chefs will make and taste a delicious sample at the library, then take home new recipe ideas to impress family and friends. Please let us know about any allergies before registering so we can ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. (ages 6-11)

The Southeast Missouri State University choir and choral union join the orchestra for Handel's Messiah, a perfect way to begin the holiday season. Also featured is award-winning oboist Thomas Gallant performing Richard Strauss' Oboe Concerto and Debussy's Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun.

Two hours of free play will give kids the opportunity to get creative and build anything they choose with LOTS of LEGO. Work on your own creations or build as a team. The library will provide the LEGOs, you provide the imagination! (ages 6-11)

Sounds of the Season will take place on Sunday, December 6, at 3 p.m. in the Bedell Performance Hall on SEMO's River Campus.

Enjoy an afternoon filled with delightful holiday music, benefitting the Mercy Health Southeast Cancer Care Fund, the Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music and the Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance senior showcase.
