Build reading readiness and kindergarten readiness skills with our Preschool Storytime program! This fun and educational program features longer books that are accompanied by a variety of activities, including flannel boards, dramatics, and songs.

Bobby Norfolk is an award-winning storyteller and three-time Emmy winning performer. Bobby highlights the joy of reading using exciting, fun stories out of books from his own library. He shows how, through storytelling, characters jump off the pages, providing a richness of experience that is uniquely literary. Join him in this performance that promotes literacy and celebrates the joy of reading!
SEMO will host a series of Paying for College Workshops in Southeast Missouri this January.
The workshops are designed to give families the tools and information needed to weigh options and make decisions about their student’s future college plans.
The Paying for College Workshops will take place in Kennett on Tuesday, January 20 at the SEMO Kennett Campus from 5-7 p.m. Dinner will be provided. Registration is required.

The East Ozarks Audubon Society (EOAS) will celebrate their milestone of 45 years of projects and activities for conservation of birds and other wildlife.
Join them at the Farmington Public Library for an evening of memories and a look to the future. The program will end with a game of bird identification and a lesson session. A birthday cake and other refreshments begin at 6:30 p.m. The program starts at 7 p.m.
The program is free and open to the public.

Are you looking for a gentle yoga class or interested in some mid-week destressing? Join us for an hour of gentle yoga, held every Wednesday. Please bring your own yoga mat or bath towel, as well as a yoga block for your practice. Space is limited and registration is required. (ages 18+)

Our monthly Mini STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) program introduces children to core STEAM concepts, such as coding and robotics basics, through play and a hands-on approach. This month we'll provide a hands-on approach to exploring coding and robotics basics using Ozobots.

Missouri's Official Folk Dance is making a comeback at the Osage Center. Square Dancing has arrived at Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation. Enjoy a foot stomping good time learning this skill in an 8-week class designed for those with no previous dancing experience. Classes begin January 14. Registration is required.
Southeast Missouri State University will host its Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Dinner on January 21.
This year’s theme is “The Power of Education and the Value of Community.” Pastor Adrian Taylor, Jr., will be the guest speaker. Pastor Taylor is the founding pastor of Lighthouse United Church in Cape Girardeau and chaplain to the men’s and women’s basketball teams at SEMO. He is widely sought for his insight on leadership, grief, team building, race relations, and spirituality.
The free celebration dinner will take place Wednesday, January 21, at the University Center Ballroom on SEMO’s main campus. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the program begins at 6. Registration is required.
