The Crisp Museum will present Shutter and Sound: The Jazz Photography of Bob Willoughby from September 2 through October 19.
Willoughby photographed jazz greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, and Louis Armstrong, among others. The exhibit features 50 images reflecting the dynamic jazz scene of the 1950s.
Shutter and Sound will be on display September 2 through October 19 at the Crisp Museum at SEMO’s River Campus.
**Opening Reception will take place on Friday, September 5, from 4-8 p.m.

The Crisp Museum hosts Art for Adults each Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon.
Beginners learn to mix colors, arrange a palette, use and clean brushes correctly in a small group setting. Attendees may use the museum’s supplies or bring their own acrylics, oils, soft pastels, or watercolors. Mini lessons are taught by Ellen Flentge.
Art for Adults takes place Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Wednesdays from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Crisp Museum on Southeast’s River Campus. There is a small fee to attend.

The East Ozarks Audubon Society will host birder Edge Wade at the Farmington Public Library on September 16 from 7-8 p.m.
Edge Wade began birding in her 50s and has made a name in the birding world for her extensive work with the Missouri Birding Society and the Missouri Rare Bird Alert. Join us in finding out why Ms. Wade describes her avian pursuits as a lifestyle with an extended family in the birding community.
The event is open to the public. Come early for refreshments.

The Cape Girardeau Public Library will host Human Trafficking: The Basics — Anti-Trafficking Training on September 18.
Join us for a special presentation by the Coalition Against Trafficking and Exploitation, as they discuss the most common survivor demographics, vulnerable populations, and key factors that heighten the risk of trafficking or exploitation to exist. Join us to keep yourself informed and help keep our community safe.
Human trafficking exists in every region of the United States, as well as around the world. Human trafficking puts individuals and communities' wellbeing, health, and safety at risk. According to the National Hotline Against Trafficking and Exploitation, Missouri is ranked #4 in the nation, based on state population for human trafficking cases reported.
Human Trafficking: The Basics — Anti-trafficking Training is designed to establish basic level knowledge to understand human trafficking, while utilizing a trauma-informed and survivor-centered approach.
