COVID-19 cases have been rapidly increasing in some parts of the country, and in recent weeks Missouri has seen particularly significant rising COVID-19 positivity rates and hospitalizations.

Missouri also remains as one of the states with the lowest overall vaccination rate at 41%.

Last week, the PCR positivity rate in Missouri rose to 14.7%, while total cases rose in Cape County by 114 and active cases by 66.

In an effort to measure these growing rates, The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center will be hosting two free public COVID-19 testing events on Sun. Aug. 1st, and Sun. Aug. 15th and are accessible to any Missouri resident.

The free drive-thru testing event will be held from 11:00am to 7:00pm at the Red Show Barn, 410 Kiwanis Drive, in Cape Girardeau
