In celebration of the 50th choir to tour from Africa since their founding in 1984, the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Anna, Illinois will host a community concert with the African Children’s Choir. The choir, comprised of children 8 to 10 years old from Uganda, has performed before presidents, heads of state, and most recently - the Queen of England. They have also sung alongside artists such as Paul McCartney, Annie Lennox, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, and Michael W. Smith. The choir’s parent organization, Music for Life, works in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and South Africa and has educated over 52,000 children through relief and development programs since its inception. This free concert is open to the community, and will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 6 at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Anna, Illinois. The choir will perform well-loved children’s songs, traditional spirituals, and gospel favorites. For more information, call Lydia Sherwood at (360) 733-2149.
