Old Town Cape’s free concert series Tunes at Twilight returns for its spring series on May 31 The next performance will feature Anne McCue, a singer-songwriter originally from Australia, now based in Nashville.
You can hear Anne McCue at Tunes at Twilight at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at Ivers Square in downtown Cape Girardeau. Be sure to bring your blanket or lawn chair.
*In case of rainout, Tunes at Twilight will be held at Gospel Life Church at 817 Broadway.

The Cape Riverfront Market opening day will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, and will run every Saturday morning between May and October from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Cape Riverfront Market occupies the lot at 35 S. Spanish Street in Downtown Cape Girardeau. Patrons of the farmers’ market can expect to find a wide variety of vendors selling hot breakfast and lunch foods, farm-fresh produce, meats and cheeses, baked goods, jams, honey, flowers and plants, arts and crafts, and natural wellness products, all of which are locally grown, homemade, and handmade.
Returning this year, the Old Town Cape will host monthly themed market days starting on May 4 with a collaboration with the Muddy River Marathon at the Casino Parking lot (777 Main Street). All vendors will attend the first market so this is a great opportunity to see what you can expect all year long! Other event days include: Marketeers Day, OTC Birthday Party, Youth Entrepreneurship Day, Harvest Festival, and Oktoberfest. The Cape Riverfront Market will also continue with our weekly musical guest series kicking off on May 4.
Due to the increased interest in market, vendors we will be closing the section of Spanish Street every Saturday to allow for more vendors at the market. We will have many additional vendors! There will be a portion of the street dedicated to Grass Roots BMW Motorcycles on the end of Spanish St. closest to Merriwether St.

The Oliver House Museum was home to Missouri State Senator Robert B. Oliver in the 1880s. His wife, Marie Watkins Oliver, has been called the "Betsy Ross of Missouri," as she designed and sewed the first Missouri state flag. The historic home, located near Uptown Jackson, has recently been renovated.
The Oliver House is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Open for tours on the first Sunday of each month from 1-4 PM.

Local Area Songwriters come and play three original songs they have written. Admission is free. No outside beverages are allowed as there is a bar in the back room. If you want to hear some amazing local talents, come on out. Hosted by Bruce Zimmerman.

The Jackson Municipal Band’s 2024 opening concert will be June 6 with special guest Trevor Finlay and Jen Friend.
The free concert will take place Thursday, June 6, at 7:0p.m. at the Nick Leist Memorial Band Shell in Jackson city park. Be sure to bring your blankets or lawn chairs.

The Missouri Department of Conservation will host Nature Center @ Night: Family Fishing on June 7.
Fishing is a great way to have fun outdoors and learn about conservation. Enjoy nature with an evening of fishing for the whole family. Rods and bait will be provided, as well as instructions, so no experience is required. All ages are welcome!
