Mercy Hospital Southeast will present “Building Better Bones” at its next Healthy Cooking Class on May 19.
Incorporating foods with calcium is key at every stage of life. Nutritional Services Coordinator Laura Vollink will share about calcium and Vitamin D recommendations and make some tasty recipes that support bone health.
“Building Better Bones” will be held Monday, May 19, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in the demonstration kitchen at Mercy Healthpoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau. There is a small fee and registration is required.

The Crisp Museum is hosting an open call for quilts and stitchery items for its upcoming summer exhibit: Quilts and Stitchery: Warmth, Art, Design.
Interested artisans can submit two items. Accepted items include but are not limited to quilting, cross-stitch, embroidery, felting, crochet, thread painting, fabric collage, Coptic stitched books, and more. Submissions will be accepted now through May 15 at 5 p.m.

The SEMO Iris Society will hold its annual show on Saturday, May 10, and Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the West Park Mall in the J. C. Penny Court.
Any individual may enter iris in the show and there is no charge to attend or exhibit flowers. Entries must be delivered to the mall Friday, May 9, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. or Saturday between 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Judging begins at 10:00 a.m., and no entries will be accepted after that time. New this year are categories for best hybrid introduced by the late Dave Niswonger and best historic iris variety.
Flowers will be on display Saturday, May 10, from 12:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 11, from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. All are welcome! This is an American Iris Society affiliated flower show.

The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center will hold a drive-thru vaccine clinic on May 14.
The clinic will provide adult and children immunizations and TB skin testing. Insurance, including Medicaid, is accepted though not required, and no appointment is needed.
The drive-thru vaccine clinic will take place on Wednesday, May 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cape County Public Health Center, on Linden Street in Cape Girardeau.

Old Town Cape’s free concert series Tunes at Twilight will welcome Andy Tanas on May 16.
Andy Tanas' music style can be summed up as an exploration into rock and country or "southern acoustic with an edge." Andy began his career as a sound tech for Lynryd Skynryd in the 1970s before joining Black Oak Arkansas in 1977 and Krokus in 1984.
You can hear Andy Tanas at Tunes at Twilight at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 16, at Ivers Square in downtown Cape Girardeau. Be sure to bring your blanket or lawn chair.
