The Missouri Department of Conservation will host Pond to Plate: Catfish Cleaning 101 on August 23.
Catfish are a wonderful challenge for any angler and an excellent food source. This program will detail multiple methods to clean and fillet your next catfish with live demonstrations. Participants must be age 12 or older.
Pond to Plate: Catfish Cleaning 101 will take place on Saturday, August 23, from 12-1:30 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau Nature Center.

The Cape Girardeau Parks & Recreation Department will host Riverfront Yoga each Saturday through September 27.
Fitness instructors will lead a yoga flow built for all levels and ages. No experience is required, and modifications will be offered. Attendees should bring a towel, a mat, and water.
Riverfront Yoga will take place this Saturday from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Riverfront Park in downtown Cape. No registration is required, but there is a small fee of $4 to attend.

The Cape Riverfront Market in downtown Cape Girardeau will host a Redhawks Festival on August 23.
The Redhawks Festival will feature a spirit rally with performances from the SEMO Steel Drum Band, Marching Band, Cheerleaders, and Sundancers, as well as giveaways, interactive inflatables, and booths with SEMO Athletics, Alumni, Admissions, and KRCU staff. Rowdy the Redhawk will also make an appearance.
The Redhawks Festival at the Cape Riverfront Market will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Saturday, August 23, at 35 South Spanish Street in downtown Cape.

The Crisp Museum will host an Open House on August 23.
The event will feature a sidewalk chalk art contest, River Campus scavenger hunt, and other family-friendly activities. Attendees can also explore the museum’s historical collections and exhibits.

The Fall Book Sale will take place Friday, August 22, from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday, August 23, from 8 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday, August 24, from 1 to 5 PM at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.

The Riverside Regional Library will host its monthly virtual book club on August 25 from 7-8 p.m.
For August, participants will pick a book they’ve read recently and tell the group about it. You can also bring book recommendations, especially ones for the group to read in the future.

The Crisp Museum, in collaboration with SEMO’s Department of Art + Design, will host Collage at Crisp on August 28.
Creating collages encourages experimentation with colors and textures, promotes fine motor skills development, and is an engaging way to explore ideas. Participants will assemble collages from provided media and materials. Professor Emily Denlinger will provide direction and guidance for beginners.
Collage at Crisp will take place Thursday, August 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crisp Museum on Southeast’s River Campus. This event is free and open to the public.
Fall Muster at Fort D Historic Site 920 Fort Street, Cape Girardeau, MOLabor Day Weekend, August 30-September 1, 9 am – 3 pm
Take a step back in time and make Fort D your destination during Labor Day Weekend. Visit with local reenactors as they interpret the Civil War in Cape Girardeau. The soldiers will demonstrate cannon and rifle fire, and visitors can get a glimpse of life during the 1860’s inside the stone building. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Fort D is one of the last earthen forts in Missouri to survive. Admission is free.
