The Missouri Farm Bureau and MU Extension are giving farmers steps they can take to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
- The first tip is to limit the number of people using farm equipment like trucks and tractors.
- Assign one person per piece of equipment. If sharing is necessary, sanitize everything touched after it’s used.
- Also, workers should be able to wash their hands often because hand sanitizer isn’t very effective on dirty hands.
- Be sure to sanitize anything delivered to the farm before handling it.
- Order new parts and pay over the phone, because any unnecessary contact creates risk.
- And finally, talk to others to keep the stress down. Calling your neighbors can help with loneliness.
