Steve Hodges Answers Questions About Guns, Other Topics

house.mo.gov

Missouri 8th District Democratic Representative nominee Steve Hodges addressed contentious topics like gun control, budget management, and same-sex marriage for nearly forty citizens Wednesday night at the Chaffee VFW.

The forum was sponsored by SEMO 10 which is a local group committed to upholding the Bill of Rights.

Audience members asked questions about issues like civilian privacy, overstepping of government boundaries, and flat tax rates.

Travis Dumey is the president of SEMO 10. He was impressed with Hodges’s ability to be consistent and honest but would have liked more informed responses.

“I think overall he does seem like a straightforward, honest guy that would represent Southeast Missouri,” Dumey said. “I would wish he was a little more informed on some important issues that seem to affect people here. I thought he was a little weak in that area, but in general he seems like a good guy.”

Hodges identifies as a conservative Democrat taking pro-life, pro-gun, and anti-gay marriage stances. A special district vote will take place June 4th. He is running against Republican Jason Smith.
