Jury To Be Brought In For George Joseph Trial

Laura Simon
/
Southeast Missourian

A jury from Cole County will be brought to Cape Girardeau in the George Joseph case.

Joseph is accused of the murder of his wife and son.

Joseph’s defense attorney requested the outside jury due to the extensive media coverage of the case. Prosecutors did not object to the request.

Joseph will return to court for a case review September 23.

He is charged killing his wife and son, Mary and Matthew Joseph, on May 30 in Cape Girardeau. According to testimony from a brother-in-law, George Joseph was suffering serious health and financial hardships, and he was concerned that he lost a substantial amount of money that he invested for other people.
