George Joseph Pleads Not Guilty

Cape Girardeau Police Department

The Cape Girardeau man accused of killing his wife and son plead not guilty in court on Monday.

George Joseph faces two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Mary and Matthew Joseph in May. Joseph allegedly tried to commit suicide after killing his family.

Joseph’s attorney, Bryan Greaser, requested a change of judge and change of venue last week. On Monday, he said he and prosecutors have loosely agreed to bring an outside jury, possibly from Cole County.

Judge Benjamin Lewis gave both sides two weeks to come to an agreement.
