Downtown Ste. Genevieve will host its Fourth Friday Art Walk on May 24.
Community members can tour the historic downtown area, view art and artisan crafts on display in the town's galleries, shops and restaurants, meet local and regional artists, and listen to live music. This month’s art walk will feature contemporary artists.
The Fourth Friday Art Walk will take place on Friday, May 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Downtown Ste. Genevieve.
During this month's art event contemporary artists from the area will show their work at about a dozen locations throughout the town.
A number of artists will be showing their work at Lion's Club Park on Market Street, including Linda P. Smith, Kadesh, Cindy Spradling, Steve Hicks and Kathy Hicks.
Work by Smith, Iris Vincent and Anita Alsup will be on display at QRST on Market. The Christmas Store, also on Market, will be showing a variety of framed art.
Rustik Sand Candles will be open on Merchant Street featuring original oil paintings and a unique stitchery project involving a reproduction of Betsy Ross' American flag.
Across the block Zelinski's will offer print art by Mark Hurd and Don Langeneckert, plus hand-crafted pottery and art glass.
At Music Art Love in the Little Bohemia neighborhood on North Main the featured artists will be Jane Amelia and Heidi Walker, with live music by the South City Winos.
Across the street at E•KLeK•TiX visitors can view new original art by Jean Rissover.
Art by Hannah Walker will be shown at Rust, Sam Conlon's line of candle holders and fire pits will be at Only Child Originals and Rust, and people can make photo art of their own at Masquerade...all venues on North Main Street.
In the Courthouse Square area ASL Pewter's unique collection of pewter items will be on display and visitors are likely to see a demonstration of how they are created. Plus the store is offering a 10 percent discount on all painted pewter items.
The elegant Silver Sycamore Gallery of Fine Art will be open with new art on exhibit.
On the Square the Sainte Genevieve Art Guild will feature a preview lithograph from its June Promenade des Arts event honoring Joseph P. Vorst and exploring his tenure as an instructor at the Ste. Genevieve Art Colony's Summer School of Art. Visitors to the Art Center & Art Museum (located at 310 Merchant) will also find over 100 works by Art Guild members.
The Art Walk is open to everyone. Most activities are free.
