Welcome fall with story time at Ozark Regional Library! From October 20 to November 21, we’ll sing songs, read stories, do arts and crafts, and learn fun rhymes at the library.

Space Week will invite the community to look up, discover, and experience the wonder of space through engaging talks, stargazing sessions, and interactive activities.
Join the SEMO Astronomy Club for a fun night of trivia with space-themed prizes to be followed with a night of stargazing (weather permitting) at the Vollink Family Observatory.
The Southeast Department of Music will present Brass in Bedell on November 6.
The evening will feature SEMO students and brass faculty in a multifaceted array of chamber ensembles, including the horn choir, trombone choir, tuba, euphonium, and trumpet ensemble, and more. The evening will conclude with a mass brass finale including musicians from the community.
Brass in Bedell will take place Thursday, November 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bedell Performance Hall on Southeast’s River Campus.

The annual Ulysses S. Grant Symposium will be held on November 7 at Kellerman-Lorimer Hall in Cape Girardeau, MO. Guest speakers include Curt Fields, Lyle Randolph, and Louis L. Picone. Speaker bios can be found here.

Established in 2014, the U.S. Grant Symposium is an annual event which brings together scholars, historians, authors, and Civil War enthusiasts to explore and discuss the life, career, and legacy of Ulysses S. Grant – with a particular interest in his relationship with Missouri and the greater Midwest.

Skiptracer (This Link is Dead), an exhibition in expanded printmaking by Jackson Taylor, Annie Klein, and Grant M. Brownlow, is on display now at Catapult Creative House.
Taylor, Klein, and Brownlow’s printmaking addresses a society experiencing systemic decline with the “dead link” being lost information, fragmented memories, and decaying environments and “skip tracing” the necessary effort to retrieve these connections.
The exhibit will be on display at Catapult Creative House through November 24. A closing reception will take place on November 24, from 5-7 p.m., with an artist talk at 5 p.m. Catapult is free and open to the public, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
SEMO’s Biennial Faculty Exhibition is on display November 7-24.
The exhibition features a broad sampling of fine art from art and design faculty and encompasses a wide range of studio practices including ceramic, painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and digital technology. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

The night sky is under threat. Light pollution from LEDs has increased 10% annually, while satellites in low Earth orbit have jumped from 2,000 to nearly 10,000 in just a decade. This talk will explore how light pollution and satellite crowding affect astronomy and wildlife, and highlight how the Campus SHINE program is uniting students, staff, and faculty to promote smarter outdoor lighting.
