Judge Denies Deposition In August Busch IV Wrongful Death Suit

A Cape Girardeau judge denied a deposition request on Tuesday in the wrongful death hearing of Adrienne Martin, the 27-year old woman who died of a drug overdose in August Busch IV’s mansion in 2010.

Martin’s mother, Christine Trampler, requested depositions of Busch and three others. But Judge William Syler denied her request because it would further drag out the year-and-a-half old case.

Star Mizzou Football Player Arrested

Three University of Missouri football players, including a highly-touted freshman athlete, were arrested late Wednesday night on charges of possession of Marijuana.

Freshman wide receiver and former No. 1 college football recruit Dorial Green-Beckham was one of the players arrested, and the MU Athletic Department says he will be suspended from this weekend’s game against Vanderbilt.

Freshmen linebacker Torey Boozer and receiver Levi Copelin were also arrested, and will also not play on Saturday.

Woman Arrested For Selling Drugs At Daycare

A woman is in Cape Girardeau County Jail after selling drugs at a Cape Girardeau daycare.

Keisha McReynolds is being charged with Distribution of a Controlled Substance and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

McReynolds allegedly sold 16 hydrocodone pills to an undercover officer on September 26 at Beautiful Beginnings Daycare.

At least eight children were allegedly under McReynolds’ care at the time of the undercover operation, according to the prosecutor’s probable cause statement.

McReynolds’ bond was set for $100,000.

New Evidence In 1988 Kansas City Firefighter Explosion Case

Lawyers representing some of the people convicted of setting off an explosion that killed six Kansas City firefighters in 1988, say they’ve uncovered new evidence that suggests others were at least partially responsible for the tragedy, and the people convicted are innocent.

Attorney Cheryl Pilate says some of the new evidence comes from eyewitness accounts that prosecutors didn’t have in the original investigation. She’s calling for the US Attorney in Western Missouri to reopen the case, with subpoena power.

Still No Decision In Union’s Case Against Illinois Closure Plans

CAIRO, IL (KRCU/The Cairo Citizen) - Lawyers from the state of Illinois and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) concluded three days of hearings Wednesday in Alexander County Court.

Judge Charles Cavaness did not issue a decision.

AFSCME is seeking a permanent injunction to block the state from transferring inmates from the Tamms Correctional Center, Dwight Correctional Center and other facilities in Illinois.
