In this episode of Exposition, we speak with SEMO Professor Fred Jones and his wife, Shirlee Wilson, about their premiere feature film, 'Sugarhouse'. The film has been a labor of love for the two writers and directors, spanning an entire year of filming in Missouri. They premiere their independent film on June 28 at the Perry Park Center in Perryville, MO, at 7 pm, and on July 18 at Connection Point Church in Jackson, MO, at 7 pm.

They described the types of stories they produce and all that goes into the production of the show, including the utilization of the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus' recording studio and the inclusion of SEMO's Professor of Clarinet, Dr. Gabrielle Baffoni.

SEMO Spotlight: Calyn Hartmann
Calyn Hartmann, who graduated high school in 2020 and spent two years earning associate degrees in general science and arts at a community college, transferred to SEMO in 2022. She officially added professional pilot to her already demanding pre-med curriculum in 2023, thanks in part to encouragement from SEMO’s Director of Aviation, Miranda Sullivan.

Media Roundtable at Southeast Missouri Food Bank Addresses Increasing Challenges of Food Insecurity in Region
During a 'Media Roundtable, KRCU Public Radio got to tour the Southeast Missouri Food Bank, which serves 16 Missouri Counties, several of which are in the top twenty most food insecure counties in the state of Missouri. We learned about how Southeast Missouri Food Bank is working to bridge the gap of food insecurity with several extraordinary programs, but relies heavily on the community's support.
