Wallingford Named To Senate Medicaid Committee

Missouri House of Representatives

Missouri Senate President Tom Dempsey named Wayne Wallingford as one of ten members of the Senate Interim Committee on Medicaid Transformation and Reform.

Wallingford is a Cape Girardeau Republican, and he is excited to work on the committee.

“It’s a problem that’s looming out there and it’s not going away,” Wallingford said. “I’m glad to be on that committee to help look at ways we can eliminate costs and have more efficiency.”

The committee will look at Medicaid reform and what other states are doing.

Wallingford said the committee will be charged with finding ways to develop methods to look for fraud and abuse in the Missouri Health Net program, provide advice on cost-effective means of coverage and evaluate how well the system is working.

“We’re going to have a pretty full agenda. We do have only until the middle of December to give a full report, so we’ll want to get started as soon as possible,” Wallingford said.

The committee has seven Republicans and three Democrats.

Wallingford holds a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration.
