Pres. Trump Approves Gov. Parson's Request For Major Disaster Declaration Regarding Flooding

A major stepping stone has been laid for local residents working past flood conditions that have struck Missouri.

After declaring a state of emergency on March 21st, Governor Mike Parson announced last night that President Donald Trump had approved his request for a major disaster declaration.

It targets 13 counties where roads, bridges, and other infrastructure has been destroyed, with a total of $25 million in expenses identified in Parson’s April 24 request. Among those counties are New Madrid County, Pemiscot County, Perry County, Mississippi County, and Ste. Genevieve County.

Andrew County, Atchison County, Buchanan County, Carroll County, Chariton, Holt, and Platte County are also on the list.

Parson has requested FEMA assistance for some of those areas, and has given the Department of Natural Resources discretionary authority to waive rules as they support recovery during the flood.
