Independent Film Takes Place And Premieres In Cape Girardeau

Circa 87

Last year’s release of Gone Girl displayed Cape Girardeau and its inhabitants as the setting of North Carthage, the fictitious Missouri river town of Gillian Flynn’s novel. The weekend of April 17 will see the premier of an independent film that was shot in Cape, and also actually takes place in Cape Girardeau. It’s called Love Chronicles (of the Cape), and it's a "faux-documentary" about a filmmaker and the unique characters she encounters in a small Midwestern town.

In an interview, writer and director Dan Steadman shares that over 100 people who attended a casting call at the Wehrenberg Cape West 14 Cine were given speaking roles in the film. Most of it was shot over a single weekend and takes place at various locations around Cape Girardeau.

The film will premier at the Rose Theater on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University Friday, April 17 at 7:30. A "red-carpet" style event will take place at 6:30, and a question-and-answer session with Steadman and cast members will take place following the film. More screenings and events surrounding the premier will take place that weekend, and the weekend of Friday, April 24. Additional information and tickets can be found here
