Southeast To Host Creativity Festival

Southeast Missouri State University

Southeast Missouri State University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is hosting its first ever “Creativity Festival” April 4-6.

Throughout the week the festival will host networking sessions, a scavenger hunt via twitter, and several “Creativity in Action” sessions. Dr. Erin Fluegge Woolf is a professor of management at the university and a faculty fellow of the innovation center. She says the festival sessions should encompass a variety of interests.

“There should really be something for everybody on this list. So, there’s fashion, there’s technology, there’s dancing, there’s theatre,” Woolf said. “Anything that you can think of, I would really hope that there’s something for everybody at this festival.”

Dr. Woolf hopes the new event encourages participants to discover their most creative selves.

“What we want for this event is to just foster creative collaboration across campus and in the community,” Woolf said. “So it’s a celebration of all things learning and exploring, trying something new, and really highlighting creativity.”

Events will kick off at 11 a.m. on Thursday in front of Kent Library. Local vendors will provide refreshments, and more detailed information about events will be available.

Events will take place on and off campus. A 9 a.m. costume contest 5K run/walk will wrap up the festival Saturday morning. All events are open to the public.
