Two-Minute Drill: SEMO Volleyball Returns Home This Weekend
SEMO Redhawks Volleyball is off to a 4-2 start, including winning the CEFCU Invitational championship the opening weekend at Bradley University. The Redhawks defeated DePaul, Bradley, and Central Michigan to pick-up the title. Laney Malloy was named tournament MVP, while Claire Ochs and Tara Beilsmith picked up all-tournament team honors.
Meanwhile, Ochs and Beilsmith also earned OVC Player of the Week honors following the CEFCU Invitational.
Last weekend, the Redhawks picked up a win against Purdue Fort Wayne, and battled in a pair of five-set matches against Western Michigan and Indiana in the Discover Kalamazoo Classic. Malloy once again earned all-tournament team honors, as she surpassed the 1,000 career kills milestone during the weekend.
SEMO Redhawks women's volleyball team welcomes Marshall, Memphis, Arkansas State and Kansas City to Cape Girardeau this weekend for the five-team SEMO Invitational tournament at Houck Field House. The Redhawks will host Marshall on Friday at 10:30 a.m., Memphis at 7 p.m., and the tournament will conclude with SEMO’s Patriot Day match versus Arkansas State at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Saturday’s concluding match will be First Responder and Military Appreciation Night, in honor of Patriot Day and the 20th anniversary of 9/11. First responders and military are invited to attend the match free of charge, and the first 200 fans in attendance will receive a flag-themed Redhawk t-shirt courtesy of Burrito-Ville.
