Two-Minute Drill: Redhawks Rank Among the OVC’s Best in Academic Achievement in 2020-21

SEMO Athletics

A total of 164 Southeast Missouri student-athletes were named to the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2020-21 academic year. The Redhawks had the third-most selections of any school in the OVC.

The 2021 OVC Champion women's track & field team led SEMO with 24 honorees followed by football with 21.

To be listed, recipients must have achieved at least a 3.25 grade point average, have been eligible and on the team throughout the competitive season in their chosen NCAA-sponsored sport(s) and used a season of competition.

In addition, thirty-nine SEMO student-athletes claimed OVC Academic Medals of Honor for the 2020-21 academic year.

The OVC Academic Medal of Honor is given annually to the student-athletes who achieve the highest grade point average in a Conference-sponsored sport. Every Academic Medal of Honor recipient for the 2020-21 academic year carried a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

SEMO’s 39 Medal of Honor winners was the second-most selections after Eastern Illinois.

The top rankings in academic recognition in the conference comes on the heels of SEMO winning the OVC Commissioner’s Cup, awarded to one member school each year for outstanding performance in athletic competition across all sports.
