A pair of Redhawk programs have received National recognition for the achievements in the classroom.
SEMO women's volleyball earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2020-2021 season, the 14th consecutive season earning the honor. The Redhawks accumulated a 3.56 cumulative grade point average during the 2020-21 academic year with Izzy Lukens, Addy McAleer, Colby Greeneand Elissa Moylan earning perfect 4.0 GPAs.
The academic honors come on the heels of the Redhawks third place finish in the OVC, including a 14-2 record in conference play - the programs highest OVC winning percentage in 20 years.
Meanwhile, the SEMO men's and women's track and field teams were awarded U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honors for the 2021 season.
Carli Knott (Dietetics & Nutrition major), Kaitlyn Shea (Global Studies & Spanish Education major) and Terrico Garrett (Criminal Justice major) were also named Academic All-Americans.
The SEMO women's team recorded a 3.605 grade point average, while the Redhawk men's team accumulated a 3.151 GPA.
Like Volleyball, the track & fields teams’ academic accomplishments were coupled with competitive success this season. The men earned a second place finish at the OVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, while the women’s team captured the OVC Championship title.
