The 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Champion Southeast Missouri women's volleyball team recently announced its end of the year award recipients.
Claire Ochs, a sophomore setter, was selected the Teammate of the Year. During the season, the team voted for a Teammate of the Week at the end of every week and Ochs collected the most votes over the season.
Ochs was named the OVC Tournament MVP and earned Second Team All-OVC honors after she led the Redhawks in assists.
Junior outside hitter Laney Malloy garnered the Pursuit of Excellence Award, sponsored by William and Merla Brooks. The award is given to the volleyball student-athlete who achieves superior academic honors, contributes directly to the success of the team, and demonstrates leadership abilities both on and off the court.
Malloy earned First Team All-OVC honors and was named to the OVC All-Tournament Team. She also set the led the OVC in service aces.
Senior Mikayla Kuhlmann was awarded the Coach's Choice Award sponsored by Cindy Gannon. Gannon, who previously served as the Southeast Volleyball Coach and Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator, wanted to sponsor an award that gave the current head coach the freedom to choose an award winner appropriate for that particular year.
Kuhlmann was named to the OVC All-Tournament Team.
Finally, freshman libero Tara Beilsmith, was named the Most Valuable Player, which was voted on by each member of the team. She set a new SEMO single-season record for digs and earned Second Team All-OVC honors.
