Two-Minute Drill: Brad Korn Completes Roster and Coaching Staff

Southeast Athletics

The first two months of Brad Korn’s tenure as head coach of the SEMO men’s basketball program has not gone exactly according to plan. After all, ever since being formally introduced in a virtual press conference on March 24, the world has been in quarantine as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Korn hasn’t even been able to the current Redhawk student-athletes in person yet, relying only on virtual conversations. And the process of hiring a staff and recruiting future Redhawks has been all the more challenging, but they are complete.

The Redhawks announced earlier this week the final additions to the roster for the 2020-21 basketball season. In all, SEMO signed six new Redhawks to the squad, adding a combination of skill and size across the entire floor. Earlier this week, the Redhawks added much needed size in the frontcourt, including Nate Johnson (6’9”, 250), Nolan Taylor (6’7”, 260), and Manny Patterson (6’8”, 220).

Of particular local interest was the addition on guard Parker Long, a graduate of Sikeston High School. Long is transferring from Maryville University in St. Louis and will be eligible with three years of eligibility after sitting out this upcoming season. Korn also added fellow guards Dylan Branson from Mehlville High School in St. Louis, and Eric Reed Jr.

Meanwhile, the coaching staff is also complete. Redhawk assistant Keith Pickens will remain on the staff, along with new assistant coaches Sam McMahon (previously at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Mo.) and Dustin Yoder (previously at Cal State San Bernardino). Aaron Proctor rounds out the staff as Director of Operations.
