Southeast Missouri junior Logan Blomquist finished 24th overall in the hammer competition Wednesday afternoon at the 2019 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships held in Austin, Texas.

Blomquist, the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Hammer Champion, achieved a mark of 198 feet, 4 inches (60.45 m) in his first career NCAA Outdoor Track & Field national meet.
The Pleasant Hill, Missouri, native qualified for the Championships after he finished ninth out of 48 competitors at the 2019 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships West Preliminary in Sacramento, California, on May 23 with a distance of 212 feet, 2 inches (64.66m).

Blomquist had a phenomenal junior season, earning the OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week four times this spring. And at the OVC Outdoor Championship, he was named the OVC Men's Athlete of the Championship after he earned a Championship-best 33 points for SEMO over the three-day meet. In addition to Gold in hammer, he secured Gold in discus, Silver in shot put, and was fourth in the javelin.

Teammate and fellow-thrower Stephen Zagurski joined Blomquist in competition at the West Preliminary meet in Sacramento.

Zagurski, a senior, tallied a personal-best mark of 207 feet, 1 inch (63.12m) in his second at the West Preliminary, good for 17th place. The top 12 finishers in the Preliminary meet advanced to the National Championship. Zagurski finished his career at SEMO ranked third in Southeast program history for hammer with his personal best mark at the regional meet.
