Southeast Missouri junior center fielder Rachel Anderson was named to the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-America Team Wednesday.
Anderson, who earned third-team honors, is SEMO's sixth All-American in program history. The Redhawks first softball All-American in 28 years, Anderson is the first player to claim All-America honors during the program's NCAA Division I era (since 1992). Karen Hudson and Alice Marler were SEMO's last All-Americans in 1991.
A native of Edwardsville, Illinois, Anderson led the Ohio Valley Conference in batting average (.454), slugging percentage (.842), on-base percentage (.551), hits (83), triples (10), total bases (154) and walks (35). She broke SEMO single-season records in batting average, slugging percentage, games played (64), on-base percentage, hits and total bases, and tied the school's single-season triples mark. Anderson also broke SEMO's all-time career triples record in 2019.
Nationally, Anderson ranked second in triples, fourth in triples per game (0.16), sixth in batting average, hits and slugging percentage, 10th in on-base percentage and 15th in slugging percentage.
Additionally, Anderson posted a team-high 28 multiple-hit games en route to leading SEMO to a program-record 46 wins, OVC regular-season title, OVC Tournament crown and its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 20 years.
Anderson made the first-ever Softball America All-America teams as a third-team selection, as well.
