In this episode of 'Exposition', we speak with Amber Fenton, the current (2025-2026) President of the Journey Student Literary Organization. 'Journey' is a writing club at the Southeast Missouri State University campus that hosts a number of open mic nights at the Catapult Creative House in Cape Girardeau
The goal of the club is to include members and non-members of all backgrounds and interests in the world of literature.
Amber notes that many of the members enjoy writing poetry during their "5-minute writing prompts," but Amber notes that all forms and fashions of literature are accepted.
They post updates about the club, including meeting times, open mics, and events, on their Instagram semojourneystudentliterary. This Instagram is also the place to submit entries for their yearly literary magazine.
At the end of each school year, the club publishes a magazine which is open to entries from both members and nonmembers. All entries are read through and approved by the executive board of the club.
'Journey' will be hosting Open Mic Nights on October 10th, October 31st, November 14th, and November 21st, and all are set for 5 pm at the Catapult Creative House.
