$50,000 Grant Awarded To SEMO Summer Food Bank Program

When schools dismiss for the summer, many students lose their connection to a constant, reliable food source.

The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation has awarded the Southeast Food Bank with $50,000 in order to provide meals to children without access over the summer break.

A series of mobile food distribution centers at locations like schools, libraries, churches, and parks will provide over 200 children and their families with healthy boxes of food.

Food distributions will be held at the sites throughout the months of summer, providing more than 30 pounds of food to families every month.

Faith Temple is the first site for food distributions, beginning May 28, and continuing every other week through August 9.

The Southeast Food Bank invites individuals to volunteer and donate throughout their 16-county area coverage which provides to various agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, and domestic abuse homeless shelters.
