Maintenance On Broadway Street In Cape Girardeau Slated To Begin Next Week

Lindsey Grojean/KRCU

Starting next week, the eastbound lane of Broadway Street in downtown Cape Girardeau will be closed in two locations due to private maintenance.

Crews will set up a detour for the eastbound lane of the Broadway and Spanish Street intersection on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and will reopen the lane on Friday, Sept. 20.

At the Broadway and Main Street intersection, one lane will be partially blocked starting Sept. 16. Crews will set up signage, and no detour will be necessary. On Wednesday, Oct. 2, signage will be removed and the street will be opened to normal traffic.

Traffic going west will not be diverted over the course of the repairs.

The maintenance was initially scheduled for this week, but was pushed back due to the Corvette Caravan event taking place today.

According to a release by the city of Cape Girardeau, maintenance schedules are subject to change due to weather and other factors. Officials recommend that motorists use additional caution around workers.
