Another day, another declaration. This is becoming the norm for Missourians as the severe weather continues to hit the state.

Governor Mike Parson has declared a state of emergency in Missouri amidst Tuesday’s severe weather warnings throughout the state and the chance of increased flooding.

Parson’s office said the state’s emergency management team is monitoring the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.

Many of the specific targets of the declaration reached into southwest Missouri, where there were flash floods reported and severe storms earlier this week.

The Missouri State Emergency Operations Plan was activated, and the State Emergency Operation Center was activated on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Parson’s office reminds Missourians that standing water can carry infectious diseases and hide road damage, and that motorists should avoid floodwater and never drive on flooded areas.
