Opera Double Feature: Dido & Aenas and Alcina
The Southeast Department of Music will present an Opera Double Feature of tragedy and comedy on January 16 and 18.
The heart-rending love story of Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, presented in the original English, will be paired with an abridged operatic farce of Handel’s Alcina, with updated dialogue in English and arias sung in Italian.
Performances will take place on Friday, January 16, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 18, at 3:00 p.m. in the Bedell Performance Hall on Southeast’s River Campus.
