Historic Fort D in Cape Girardeau will once again host Fourth at the Fort on Independence Day.

On July 4, the soldiers of Fort D would celebrate by firing their rifles and cannon and flying their flags proudly. Stop by the fort and celebrate the birth of our nation with local living history reenactors. The old stone blockhouse with its interpretive displays on life during the Civil War will be open for visitors.

Fourth at the Fort will take place Thursday, July 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
