All About Cape: Staying Healthy in 2020

Focusing on health is a common resolution at the start of each new year. We are still in the first quarter of 2020, so it’s not too late to get started working on that goal! Head over to the Health and Wellness Expo March 7 at the Osage Center.

There will be screenings, group fitness demos, food samplings, cooking demos, seminars, senior living information and over 80 vendors! And, if you’re a fan of giveaways, there will be plenty at this event!

Speaking of health and wellness, one key part to keeping healthy is sleep. Did you know that a lack of sleep could affect your mood, cause weight gain, increase your risk for type two diabetes and throw off your body’s circadian rhythm? According to the National Sleep Foundation, you require seven to nine hours of sleep each night to help prevent these things and overall keep your body happy and healthy.

Want to see some healthy athletes show off their skills and abilities?  The NSSC Volleyball Tournament and the Athletes Plus Cheerleading competition will be taking place at the Sportsplex on March 7 -8. Stop in and enjoy some of the excellent athletic talent that will be displayed.

Be sure to keep this in mind when you go to sleep on Saturday...the next morning is Daylight Savings. Set your clocks forward and remember that you’ll lose an hour of sleep, so you may need to doze off an hour earlier to get in your seven to nine hours.
