All About Cape: Hunting Candy Canes and Annual Christmas Tourney

My word!  It looks like a certain someone has left candy canes all over Shawnee Park!  While no one knows the true origins of the holiday candy, its appearance in stores and on Christmas trees has been a long-standing December tradition.

Can you help locate the red-and white striped candy?  Bundle up the kiddos and bring them to Friday evening., December 20 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm to track down the candies.  There will be cookies and hot chocolate for all in the search party during the Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt.  It is only $5 for children who register before the event.

Have I caught you on your way to find last minute gifts?  Well, here’s a few ideas in case you are struggling.  For the adults in your life, gift cards are always a good go-to.  Even better?  Give your friend a spa day.  Hopefully, someone will return the favor.  Need something for a younger generation?  Consider an annual pass to Discovery Playhouse or a season pass to Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center.  Talk about gifts that keep on giving.  If none of these items seem right, create a personalized item during one of Cape’s many crafting classes.

Finally, don’t miss the annual Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament.  Support your local alma mater and discuss your favorite holiday moments with old friends.   The double-elimination basketball tournament ensures each team will play at least two games December 26- 29th at the Show Me Center.  Who are you rooting for?
