A new concert series will begin in Charleston on June 7th called Tunes in June. Throughout the month of June, Charleston’s Chamber of Commerce will host concerts of many different genres, which will be held on Friday evenings at Charleston’s Rolwing Park.
Karen Teeters is Charleston Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Director.
“Well you look around and Sikeston has their Music at Malone Park, Cape has their Tunes at Twilight, and [we] just decided that Charleston needed a little bit of entertainment in the early summer months as well,” Teeters said.
Charleston’s Tunes in June will exhibit music groups from around the area and will feature food from restaurants in Charleston. Vendors will be present on each Friday while the bands are playing. The musical acts are The Black Island Band, Saxy Jazz, Soul Dog, and Charleston’s Brass Quintet.
“We’re asking that no outside food or drink be brought in, in respect to those who have come out to sell some reasonably priced concessions,” Teeters said, “and of course being in a city park there’s no alcohol, but it’s going to be 6:00 to 7:30 and we hope to see lots of folks out.”
The food vendors are Checkbook’s Barbecue, Island Boyzz Restaurant, City Limits Grill, and Mr. Adam Glenn of The Glenn Restaurant.
The concerts will be held in Rolwing Park from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm every Friday night in June.
