Two-Minute Drill: Dylan Dodd Earns National Recognition, Prepares for MLB Draft

SEMO Athletics

SEMO Redhawks senior starting pitcher Dylan Dodd was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Division I South All-Region Team, as well as Collegiate Baseball’s Second Team All-American.

The honors come on the heels of Dodd earning First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference and OVC Pitcher of the Year honors this season.

Dodd finished his SEMO career with a 9-2 record and 3.17 earned run average in 15 starts on the mound in 2021. He combined on one shutout, struck out 120 and walked only 17 in 96.2 innings. Dodd led the OVC in strikeouts, innings, wins and games started, and ranked second in ERA. Nationally, he ranked 14th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.06), 20th in strikeouts and 22nd in victories.

Additionally, Dodd landed a spot on this year's OVC All-Tournament Team.

Dodd was the only student-athlete in the OVC to earn All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball.

After turning down multiple undrafted free agent offers after last year’s pandemic-shortened season in order to return to SEMO in 2021, Dodd is now projected to be drafted as high as the top seven rounds of the Major League Baseball draft. The draft will take place July 11-13 in Denver, and until then he is continuing to work on refining his curveball and slider and he prepares for a professional career.
