Two-Minute Drill: Redhawk Student-Athletes Ranked Among Nation’s Best by D1 Baseball

Southeast Athletics

D1 Baseball ranked SEMO's Dylan Dodd, Tyler Wilber, and Justin Dirden among the top hitters and pitchers of their respective classes.

The rankings were based on the four weeks of statistics from the 2020 season before it was cut short due to COVID-19.

A left-handed starting pitcher, Dodd was rated ninth among senior arms, highest of any Ohio Valley Conference pitcher. D1 Baseball also tabbed him as the 203rd (projected rounds 9th-10th) college prospect for this year's Major League Baseball Draft, which has been postponed due to the pandemic.

D1 broke down pitching into three categories: Zone Control, Pitch Ability and Durability. Dodd's overall score was 89.0 with an 83.9 in zone control, 91.0 pitch ability, and 86.0 durability.

The Danville, Illinois native led the Redhawks with 36 strikeouts in 26.2 innings of work, and he allowed just 10 runs during his time on the mound.

Shortstop Tyler Wilber was ranked in the top 40 among junior hitters.

D1 broke down hitting into three categories: plate discipline, hit ability and game power. Wilber's overall score was 87.2 with an 85.0 in plate discipline, 80.1 hit ability and 77.0 game power.

The Rossmoor, California native had a .406 batting average with 26 runs, 12 RBI and a .696 slugging percentage.

Finally, outfielder Justin Dirden rated second on the list of Top 50 Senior Hitters.

Dirden's overall score was 91.6 with an 81.7 in plate discipline, 81.3 hit ability and 93.0 game power.

The O'Fallon, Missouri native was boasting a .900 slugging percentage and had gone 9-of-9 in stolen bases at the time the season ended. Dirden had a .414 batting average with 20 runs, 26 RBI, and nine home runs, which ranked second in the nation.
