The head of the St. Louis Regional Chamber is resigning, effective at the end of the month. Joe Reagan has been president and CEO of the organization since 2012. The chamber's board already has a replacement lined up — at least on a temporary basis.

Former UMB Bank-St. Louis Chairman and CEO Tom Chulick will move into the job until a committee hires a permanent chief executive officer. He has spent nearly 25 years in the financial services industry and served as president of UMB Bank's Midwest region. He's currently on the chamber's board of directors and is a Webster University trustee.

"I see enormous potential for the St. Louis regional economy," Chulick said in a news release issued by the chamber. "It's a wonderful place to grow a business."

Tom Chulick also serves a board member of the St. Louis Sports Commission.

The release includes a brief statement from Reagan. He thanked the chamber's leadership team for their "dedication to causes that are so important for St. Louis' future."

Reagan had come under fire in the past year for his leadership style. Anonymous letters included allegations against him.

A review by the chamber's executive committee concluded that some of the claims in the letters were false. The Post-Dispatch reported one of the letters called for Reagan's "separation from the organization."
