The Southeast Metropolitan Planning Organization also began its own project to incorporate more electric vehicles into Southeast Missouri's infrastructure plans.

The ‘Neighborhood Solar Project’ objective is to collaborate with community organizations like the University to host solar generation. The project began by constructing solar canopies in the Show Me Center Parking lot, designed to produce solar energy for homes in the area. It is the largest such program in the state.
