A local organization received a much-needed boost in its efforts for cancer patients and their families.

The LemonDrop Foundation received a $20,000 grant from The Bank of Missouri through its partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank Member Impact Fund. It aims to expand support for cancer patients and families in the region.

Nate Gautier, Executive Director of the LemonDrop Foundation, said it's the largest gift in the foundation's six-year history.

"We are so honored and grateful for The Bank of Missouri's support and the community to help us continue to serve patients," said Gautier. "We will be able to increase our annual ChemoPak campaign from 300 to 500 ChemoPaks for patients in need", Gautier said in a statement.

The ChemoPaks he mentions include items like non-scented lotion, anti-nausea products, a blanket, a journal, socks, a 'comfort rock', and a cooling towel. Increased funding allows the LemonDrop Foundation to impact more patients and helps "ease some of the emotional, physical, and financial burdens associated with cancer treatment."

The LemonDrop Foundation raises awareness and provides support for boys, men, and families in the fight against testicular cancer in the Southeast Missouri community.
